FACE LIFT and NECK LIFT (rhytidectomy)

Face lift and neck lift is a surgical procedure which improves visible signs of ageing. Consists in tightening and smoothing the skin of your face and neck in the temporal, pre-aural, post-aural and occipital areas. It brings back young appearance of your face, reduces wrinkles and improves loose, sagging skin. It is performed either as full face lift which involves face area below eyes and neck or as just mini face lift which involves midface area without neck.If necessary it can be combined with eyelids surgery and brow lift.

The best candidates for undergoing the procedure are patients who have significant sagging, loss of muscle tone, loose skin and also excess of fat tissue in the area of midface, jowls and/or neck.

The skin is being cut above the auricle, within the hairy skin of the temple, then down in front of the ear and behind the auricle up, then transverse to the scalp of occiput. Later the skin is being released of the entire cheek and depending on the conditions, also of the neck. By the parotid gland the buccal fascia is being shorten, which results in cheek rejuvenation. On the neck the wide muscle of the neck is being pulled tight, which reduces the neck wrinkles. At the end of the procedure the excess of skin is being removed through cutting off, which results in additional evening of the face. Also drains are installed in order to control the bleeding.

Each surgery caries the risk. In case of face and neck lift there is a risk of bruising and swelling.

The final effect is visible after 4-6 weeks.

Time of the procedure: 3-4 hours.

Anaesthetic: Procedures are performed under local anaesthetic following prior premedication.

The lenght of stay with us: After the procedure, the patient stays at the clinic for 1 night, and then remains under the doctor's control for up to 10 days until stitches are removed.

Recommendations to be followed after the procedure:
- diet recommended by a doctor for 5 days after the procedure,
- pressure bandage for 3 days following the procedure,
- avoid direct sunlight for two weeks,
- Dermatix ointment/gel on scars,
- each of our patients receive more individual information concerning further procedures at the discharge from the clinic.
